PHOTO OF THE WEEK

The high school Bible study which meets mainly at the Bronner home in Hartland loves starting their night off with some four square fun!  The High School Bible Study just announced they will CONTINUE meeting through the summer on the 1st and 3rd Sunday nights.  They are planning a Skyzone event June 2nd.  More info on that here.  See Vicar Alex in that photo above? Yes, he loves being with the HS group and we will miss him dearly.  Save the date for a farewell luncheon and baby shower on June 23rd at 11:30am in the Media Center.

SERMON SERIES

About the Sermon Series: We all live somewhere. We all have neighbors and a neighborhood—whether we live in a rural, suburban, or urban context. So, does God have an opinion about how we should relate to the people and places right around us? As it turns out, He does. Join us in our new sermon series called "Love Where You Live" as we learn about a theology of work and how that Godly work affects our relationships with our neighbors and neighborhood.
Watch this sermon series intro video below:
Week 1 Sermon: Work and Keep the Land
Week 2 Sermon: Be Zealous and Do Good
Week 3 Sermon: Love Your Neighbor

CALL UPDATE - 3RD PASTOR

Dear brothers and sisters in Jesus,

At the regular assignment service for pastoral candidates, the Council of Presidents, working in conjunction with the Director of Placement of Concordia Seminary St. Louis, has placed pastoral candidate Christopher Sturges at Divine Redeemer to serve as an Associate Pastor focusing on Mission and Outreach! Thank you, Lord!

This joyous occasion marks not only a significant milestone in the life of Christopher but also a moment of great celebration for our DR family!  We now have the blessing to expand our ministry opportunities at DR as Pastor Adam will be transitioning to the role of Associate Pastor of Family Life and Care Ministries and pastoral candidate Christopher will continue to carry on our focus on Mission and Outreach to Lake Country and around the world! As we continue to grow, God is faithful in sending laborers into His harvest field!

While many details are yet to be finalized, our congregation will play an integral role in the journey ahead particularly as we join together in prayer to thank Jesus for His faithfulness and pray that Christ would equip our new pastor. More information on ordination and installation will be forthcoming.

Furthermore, the congregation has been given a unique opportunity by the Seminary and South WI District to extend a Divine Call to our previous Vicar, Graham Jenkins! At our regularly scheduled Voters’ meeting on May 19th we will have the opportunity to extend a Divine Call for Graham to serve as a part-time pastor. What does this mean for DR? As most of you know, Graham desires to continue his education and earn a doctorate degree. Graham has been accepted to Marquette University’s PhD full-time program, and while he continues his studies he also desires to serve Christ as a pastor which is desperately needed in South WI. By being the Calling Congregation for Graham as a pastor, he would be able to serve DR on an “as-needed” basis but also serve other LCMS Congregations who need pastoral assistance. What a great way to receive pastoral support from Graham as the need arises at DR, but also to enable him to serve in other churches that need pastoral support! DR would compensate Graham when he would serve at our congregation (such as preaching, leading a Bible Study, etc.) as the need arises and it fits within his workload as a PhD student. Other congregations in Southern Wisconsin would also have the opportunity to have Graham serve at their churches and they would compensate him for his service accordingly. This is a blessing for DR and the larger “Church!”

Again, further announcements will follow as plans are solidified, and we encourage the congregation to remain prayerful for pastoral candidates Sturges and Jenkins throughout this blessed process.  For now, praise Jesus for all of the pastors and vicars who were placed and assigned in yesterday's services. ‘The harvest is plentiful’ and thank the good Lord for His workers!

God's Peace,
Seth Flick
